We are the peak body for the advancement of rural women and girls in Australia. We focus on the social, economic and emotional wellbeing of rural women as well as working towards strategic outcomes for rural communities.
We are a member-owned Cooperative and are an independent and diverse voice representing the geographic, cultural and economic diversity of rural, regional and remote women and our social enterprise focuses on delivering high quality relevant, accessible, contextually and culturally appropriate professional and personal development for rural women and girls.
With more than a decade of outcomes under our belt, thousands of rural women supported through evidence-based programs and activities and a nationally engaged community, we are the priority partner for dedicated individuals, business and groups who also have a commitment to the advancement of rural women and girls in Australia.
We are a non-distributing Cooperative which means that our Individual Members are owners of the enterprise. There are two ways you can become a Member... 1. Individual Member - as an individual member you become an 'owner' and you must either be a woman living in a rural or regional location or be committed to the advancement of rural women and girls. This membership gives you voting rights at the AGM and contribution to the direction of the operations and business of the Cooperative 2. Business Member - this is an associate membership and is open to all businesses and organisations who are committed to the advancement of rural women and girls. This membership does not provide any voting rights to the Cooperative. We are proudly Australian, but we are welcoming to people all across the globe to join as members! We love to 'live local - grow global' and want to see the advancement of rural women and girls around the world. Sponsorship packages are also available for those wishing to show their support without joining as a member.
No! If you align with our mission - for the advancement of rural women and girls, you can join the Co-op! You can identify as a woman or a man or non-binary, you can be a business or sole trader, and you may live in an urban or rural environment. However please note, men do not get access to the programs and the online community but are welcome to join THE Rural Woman Co-operative to show their support.
Yes! Businesses and organsiations can become Associate Members. We offer 3 business membership options based on the size of your organisation, each with a different set of benefits to reflect your contribution. We also offer sponsorship opportunities for those looking to show support without becoming a member. We also often partner and collaborate with organisations and businesses of like-mission. Please note, this membership does not provide any voting or member rights to the Cooperative, it is an associate membership only. For individuals, membership is $99 plus a one-off joining fee of $44 including GST. For business memberships, costs are based on the size of your organisation and can be found on our business memberships page, or by downloading our information pack. You'll be notified prior to your anniversary date so you can choose to renew your membership.
As an individual member, you have the right to attend and be heard at general meetings. You have the right to vote at general meetings, including the right to vote on special resolutions. Individual members also have eligibility to nominate as a director. Current financial members of THE RW Co-operative do get a vote. Each year there will be an Annual General Meeting which you will be invited to and you will be invited to any special general meetings called throughout the year. Each member has 1 vote. Business and Organisations who are associates members do not have these rights.
To pay the regular subscription fee each year (if you agree to renew). To actively support the mission of the Co-op and its primary activity which is to enable the connection of rural women and assist them to improve their wellbeing, agency and/or financial security, through education, training, networking, mentoring, and financial opportunities.
